Mac OS Cheetah was always being criticized due to its low printer support. It was a mess in the past to work on Macintosh devices, as only limited numbers of printers were supported by the operating system. But now, in Mac OS X 10.1, Apple has improved the printer support for up to 200 different printers.

Released on November 13, 2001, on the same day that AirPort Software 2.0 was made available for download, Mac OS X version 10.1.1 was the first update to Mac OS X 10.1 "Puma". The build number was 5M28, although this was 5M45 for PowerBooks that shipped with the new OS.
I just bought an iMac G4! It's the original 700MHz model from 2002 with a DVD-ROM drive. I installed Mac OS X 10.1 on it. I read herethat iPhoto 1.0 was bundled with the Mac OS X 10.1 retail, but my disc doesn't have it. It probably shipped before iPhoto in late 2001. I really want iPhoto 1 on my iMac, so I set out to find a download. I found one here (by the way, you should go one level up on that site! They have great downloads for PPC Macs!). It's iPhoto 1.1.1. I burned it to a disc, but I found that I needed Mac OS X 10.1.2 or later. Here's where my problem starts. First, I tried downloading the 10.1.5 Combo update from Apple, but I got a message saying I needed an Installer update before I could install the software. So decided to go up to just 10.1.2, and worry about 10.1.5 later. I burned two discs for my iMac; one for 10.1.1, and one for 10.1.2 (because the 10.1.2 update isn't a "combo" update, so I need 10.1.1 first). So I tried to install 10.1.1, and the Installer worked fine until I got to the "Select Destination" section. My hard drive wasn't selectable! In fact, nothing was! Does anyone know what's going on here? If so, pleas help. Thanks.
If you follow the chart, you'll find the necessary updates to get up to 10.1.5 from what updates you have installed thus far. The sequence of updates is very important. Much easier would be just to get a Mac OS X 10.3 or 10.4 retail installer disc and Archive and Install one of those operating systems.
The linked site containing all that software is very dubious. It is not an Apple site & the downloads could contain anything - there have been cases where pirated Apple software contains malicious modifications (I recall one being a version of iLife or iWork). You would be better off finding an original disk on Amazon etc. The same is true for Apple software updates - get them from Apple only.
Other people have been given that link, and it is posted on Apple Support Communities user tips. You'd think the moderators would have taken it down by now if there was any inkling it was false. Also Apple downloads is already missing a lot of older downloads. If you want to try and dig them up from Apple Downloads, I welcome you to take the time to post them.
Mac OS X 10.1 (code named Puma) is the second major release of macOS, Apple's desktop and server operating system. It superseded Mac OS X 10.0 and preceded Mac OS X Jaguar. Mac OS X 10.1 was released on September 25, 2001, as a free update for Mac OS X 10.0 users. The operating system was handed out for no charge by Apple employees after Steve Jobs' keynote speech at the Seybold publishing conference in San Francisco. It was subsequently distributed to Mac users on October 25, 2001, at Apple Stores and other retail stores that carried Apple products.

The worst window resize performance in 10.0.x was provided by none other than the Finder itself. List view windows, in particular, were so unresponsive as to be nearly useless. Resizing a list view Finder window was one of the first things I tried in 10.1.
10.1 also introduced system status icons in the menu bar, making it easy to review things like WiFi network connections, battery life and more. This was a far cry from the menu bar system we have today, but it was a nice way to bring some of the old Control Strip magic to OS X.
On the Digital Hub front, iMovie 2 was being bundled with OS X 10.1, and iDVD 2 was announced for an October launch. CD and DVD burning within Finder and iTunes was made much easier with Puma as well. To round this out, DVD Player was introduced, turning the Mac into a DVD player.
I wrote at the start of this article that I want to believe in Mac OS X. I want to believe that it will replace Mac OS 9 in a way that improves upon every aspect of the classic Mac OS user experience. Unfortunately, although this may still come to pass, Mac OS X 10.1 is not that version of Mac OS.
But 10.1 improves on 10.0.x in many important ways. Overall system performance shows the biggest improvement, but it is not as drastic as some reports may lead you to believe. Other areas have stagnated. The user interface has not made significant strides since 10.0.x. Many annoying bugs remain, and many features have yet to be implemented.
