If you've reformatted or replaced the original hard drive, it's possible to install Apple Hardware Test back to it from a downloadable disk image, but you need to boot the system using the Recovery partition on another disk to do it:
Just to answer the question of how to get AHT and assuming your Mac is indeed a 13inch mid-2010 MacBook Pro your model is MacBookPro7,1 and for that model you can download AHT from Apple with the link below and follow my steps below to put it on a flash drive.
Mac Aht Download
(your flash drive will be WIPED)1. Insert your flash drive of at least 16MB capacity and open Disk Utility then select your flash drive on the left and go to the Partition tab.2. Select 1 Partition in the drop down then go to Options... and select GUID Partition Table then verify Format is set to Mac OS Extended (Journaled)3. Finally enter a name for your drive (I recommend something simple like AHT-FD, do not use spaces) and click Apply4. After formatting is finished mount (double click) the 022-4653-A.dmg you downloaded and copy everything to your freshly formatted AHT-FD flash drive.5. In Finder open Go in the menu bar and select Go to Folder... then paste /Volumes/AHT-FD/System/Library/CoreServices/.diagnostics/ and click Go6. Copy the diags.efi file and paste it to the root of your AHT-FD flash drive.7. For the final step open Terminal and paste this code then enter your password, your computer will immediately reboot after the command completes, save any work first
It happens that Apple provides disk images with AHT for most computers, but does not make the links publicly available. Various blogs and forums, mostly Riven by Five and MacForum.ro have gathered a list of download links. The rest were obtained by scraping _Hardware_Test/ for all the links of the form 0(1822)-\d4-A.dmg.
This contains a .pkg that tries to install the AHT to your system folder. Alternatively right-click it to show the package contents and unpack the Archive.pax.gz file inside. The extracted Archive/System/ folder contains the diagnostic tools and can be used to create a bootable USB stick, as with the other .dmg files downloaded from Apple.

Apple Diagnostics(AD) replaces built-in Apple Hardware Test(AHT) for devices manufactured after 2013. Some older devices will also load AD instead of AHT if you update the OS or use Option+D to download it online. Many older devices lose AHT after upgrading your OS, since it wipes it from the hard drive and its not available online.
Hi,My self Sudip. Now I have download Erlang sheet V3 it is brilliant thank you so much for providing this tools.Need help on this.I want to know how much occupancy included in this tools? Can I able to change the target of occupancy?
When downloading the Excel version of the Erlang-C calculator, it will not allow a time period greater than 545 minutes. I am trying to calculate # of agents required for a call center open from 8a-7p,(660 minutes) and the calculator keeps resulting with zero agents. It would also be nice if the download would allow you to enter AHT by interval instead of by day. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
OS X Lion was released in the summer of 2011. Lion marked the change from distributing OS software on physical media (DVDs) to providing the software as a download. Before OS X Lion, the Apple Hardware Test was provided on one of the install DVDs that were included with a Mac, or on a special USB flash drive that was provided for the early version of the MacBook Air, which didn't have an optical media slot.
Note: This software supports TAM IV and TAM Air instruments in a single installer (not yet available for TAM III customers). This download is a full version of the software and documentation.
